The Peñas Arriba – Peñas Abajo mining operation has been contributing to the development of construction and its auxiliary industry in the Principality of Asturias for over five decades. It has played a role in many major infrastructure projects in the region by directly supplying high-quality limestone materials to construction works and collaborating with the leading concrete and asphalt manufacturers in Asturias. The limestone, with a calcium carbonate content ≥ 98%, is also used in industrial processes such as desulfurization and lime manufacturing, among others.
